80:1 He frowned and turned away,
80:2 when the blind man came to him[1].
80:3 How would you know? Perhaps he might be purified[1],
80:4 or he might take heed and benefit from the reminder?
80:5 But he who was indifferent[1],
80:6 you give him your full attention,
80:7 although you are not to be blamed if he does not purify himself[1].
80:8 But as for the one who came to you striving [for purification],
80:9 and he fears Allah,
80:10 you let yourself be distracted from him.
80:11 No indeed; this is a reminder –
80:12 so whoever wills may give heed to it –
80:13 on venerable pages,
80:14 exalted and purified,
80:15 [preserved] in the hands of angel-scribes,
80:16 honorable and obedient.

80:19 He created him from a drop of semen and proportioned him[1],

80:21 then He caused him to die and be buried;
80:22 then when He wills, He will resurrect him.
80:23 Yet he has not fulfilled what He commanded him.

80:26 and cause the soil to split open [for sprouts],
80:27 and cause grains to grow in it,
80:28 as well as grapes and fodder,
80:29 and olive trees and date palms,
80:30 and dense orchards,
80:31 and fruits and grass,
80:32 as provision for you and your livestock.
80:33 But when the Deafening Blast[1] comes,
80:34 on that Day everyone will flee from his brother,
80:35 and from his mother and father,
80:36 and from his wife and children.
80:37 On that day, everyone will have enough concern of his own[1].
80:38 On that Day, some faces will be bright,
80:39 cheerful and rejoicing;
80:40 while other faces will be dust-stained on that Day,
