69:36 nor any food except the discharge of wounds,

69:37 none will eat it except the sinners.”

69:38 I swear by what you can see.

69:39 and what you cannot see!

69:40 Indeed, this is the word of a noble Messenger[1],

69:41 and it is not the word of a poet; little do you believe!

69:42 Nor is it the word of a soothsayer; little do you take heed!

69:43 It is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

69:44 If he had falsely attributed something to Us,

69:45 We would have surely seized him by the right hand[1],

69:46 then severed his aorta[1],

69:47 and none of you could have rescued him.

69:48 This [Qur’an] is indeed a reminder for those who are righteous.

69:49 And We surely know that some of you will be deniers,

69:50 and it[1] will certainly be a source of regret for the disbelievers.

69:51 And this[1] is indeed the absolute truth.

69:52 So glorify the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

70:1 A challenger asked for a punishment bound to come[1]

70:2 upon the disbelievers, which none can avert,

70:3 from Allah, Lord of the pathways of ascent,

70:4 by which the angels and the Spirit[1] will ascend to Him on a Day[2] the length of which is fifty thousand years.

70:5 So be patient [O Prophet] with beautiful patience.

70:6 Indeed, they see this [punishment] far off,

70:7 but We see it to be close at hand.

70:8 On the Day when the sky will be like molten brass[1]

70:9 and the mountains will be like dyed wool[1],

70:10 and no close friend will ask about another,
