53:45 and that He created the pairs, male and female,

53:46 from a drop of sperm when it is emitted,

53:47 and it is upon Him to bring about the second creation.

53:48 And He is the One Who enriches and bestows wealth,

53:49 and that He is the Lord of Sirius[1].

53:50 And that He destroyed the earlier ‘Ād[1],

53:51 and Thamūd[1], sparing none,

53:52 and [He destroyed] the people of Noah before them; they were indeed more wicked and more rebellious.

53:53 And He toppled the cities[1] upside down,

53:54 and they were utterly covered [by stones][1].

53:55 Then which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt?

53:56 This [Prophet] is a warner like the earlier warners.

53:57 The imminent Hour has drawn near,

53:58 none but Allah can disclose it.

53:59 Do you find this discourse astonishing,

53:60 and you laugh [at it] and not weep,

53:61 while heedlessly lost in amusement?

53:62 So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him].

54:1 The Hour has drawn near and the moon has split asunder[1].

54:2 Whenever they see a sign[1], they turn away and say, “Same old magic!”

54:3 They deny [the truth] and follow their desires, but every matter will reach its inevitable end.

54:4 There have already come to them stories [of destroyed nations] that are sufficient to deter them,

54:5 which contain extensive wisdom, but the warnings are of no avail.

54:6 So turn away from them [O Prophet]. On the Day when the caller[1] will summon them to a horrific event[2],
